We are a stealth startup building a next-generation counter-UAS platform, focused on high-speed interception. This role sits at the center of the vehicle, owning tightly coupled electromechanical subsystems from early prototypes through flight-ready hardware.
Competitive Salary, Meaningful Equity, Full-package.
Role Description
As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will design, integrate, and iterate on tightly coupled electromechanical systems that enable a high-speed interceptor platform. This is a multidisciplinary, execution-heavy role where progress is measured in working hardware. You must excel in at least two of three areas, electrical, software, mechanical, or be exceptionally strong in one with clear working competency in the other two.
You will operate across architecture, detailed design, bring-up, and test. You will be expected to diagnose system-level issues quickly, make grounded tradeoffs, and turn prototypes into repeatable, flight-ready assemblies.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and integrate electromechanical subsystems spanning actuators, sensors, embedded compute, power, wiring, and mechanical packaging.
- Own subsystem architecture from concept through prototype, qualification, and vehicle integration.
- Develop and debug embedded or hardware-adjacent software, including drivers, interfaces, and test tooling.
- Define electrical architectures for subsystem power distribution, protection, grounding, and signal integrity.
- Contribute to mechanical design including mechanisms, packaging constraints, thermal considerations, and structural integration.
- Bring up new hardware, debug failures, and close the loop between design intent and test data.
- Collaborate closely with propulsion, GNC, and systems to deliver integrated performance and reliability.
- Support rapid iteration cycles including lab testing, vehicle build, and flight test readiness.
Skills and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven strength in at least two domains across electrical engineering, software, mechanical engineering.
- Alternatively, exceptional depth in one domain with demonstrated effectiveness working in the other two.
- Experience designing and integrating complex electromechanical systems for aerospace, robotics, autonomy platforms, or high-performance vehicles.
- Hands-on experience with embedded systems, controls interfaces, sensor integration, or test automation.
- Strong systems judgment, you can make structured tradeoffs across performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, moving from problem statement to working solution with minimal process overhead.
- Evidence of taking prototypes into robust, testable, repeatable designs.
Why Join
You will join a small founding team building a high-speed interceptor for modern counter-UAS missions. The work is tightly coupled and highly technical, you will have real ownership of the platform and direct influence on flight performance, reliability, and how the system scales into production. Compensation includes meaningful early-stage equity.
ITAR Compliance
This position requires access to export-controlled information. Candidates must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR, including U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.
