We build next-generation factories composed of highly automated manufacturing systems designed for continuous operation. This role owns last-mile OT integration for vendor equipment, closes FAT and SAT punch lists, and hardens PLC, SCADA, and MES interfaces.

BENEFITS

Competitive Salary, Meaningful Equity, Full-package.

DESCRIPTION

Role Description

We are hiring a Senior Industrial Controls Engineer to own integration and hardening of operational technology across a distributed manufacturing environment. This role is focused on execution, not greenfield controls development. You will ensure vendor-delivered equipment meets internal standards, close FAT and SAT gaps, and secure PLC, SCADA, and MES integrations to modern defense compliance requirements.

The work sits at the intersection of controls, networking, and software discipline. You will take heterogeneous vendor systems and make them consistent, testable, secure, and operable at scale.

Core Responsibilities

  • Enforce internal OT standards by reviewing, refactoring, and correcting vendor PLC logic and reusable libraries.
  • Own FAT and SAT execution, including authoring test plans, running on-site validation, maintaining punch lists, and driving issues to closure with evidence.
  • Implement and document OT security controls aligned to CMMC 2.0 and NIST 800-171, including access control, segmentation, certificates, logging, backup, restore, and patching.
  • Debug field issues across EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, and industrial networks using protocol analyzers, PLC diagnostics, and packet inspection tools.
  • Apply software-grade practices to OT artifacts, including version control, code review, CI, and automated testing using simulation or virtual PLCs.
  • Partner with software teams to align tags, schemas, and data models between equipment, SCADA, and MES layers.
  • Train and manage external integrators, reviewing deliverables and approving only when specification-compliant.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience integrating PLC and SCADA systems using disciplined software engineering practices.
  • Strong background with Rockwell ControlLogix and Studio 5000, including Ladder, Structured Text, and AOIs.
  • Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of OPC UA, including security models, certificates, and nodesets, plus EtherNet/IP and industrial networking fundamentals.
  • Ability to write production-quality code in Go, Rust, or Python for test harnesses, adapters, and tooling.
  • Experience using Git, CI pipelines, and automated verification in an industrial context.
  • Demonstrated ownership of FAT and SAT processes with clear documentation and structured change control.
  • Willingness to travel to vendor and deployment sites as needed, approximately 25 percent.

Why Join

This role has direct ownership over whether complex manufacturing systems integrate cleanly, operate securely, and scale reliably. You will work close to hardware, software, and operations, with authority to enforce standards and close gaps that typically slow industrial programs down.

ITAR Compliance

This role may involve access to export-controlled technical data. Candidates must be eligible to comply with applicable US export control regulations.
